128K RAM DISC
-------------

At last we have a program -- from D Titman of Wakefield -- for 128K users
only! It's only small but I think its worth printing. What it does is
save programs directly to the RAM disc. Not only that but it will label
them, 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D', etc.

Since Lines 9991 to 9999 are used in this program, it will not save any
programs that use these Line numbers. Type theprogram in and save it to
RAM using SAVE! "loader" Line 9994 then GO TO LINE 9992 to run it.
Then simply play your tape(s).

ASSEMBLER
---------

This program is a very useful little assembler -- from T Lester of Bershire.

The reason it's worth typing in is it allows certain features like
translation between hex and decimal, and transfer of memory blocks,
facilities which are usually only found in some of the more expensive
commercial packags.

Not only that, but it is very simple to operate and can probably become a
very powerful tool. It's user friendly too, which helps and it may also
save you buying an assembler. Now that can't be bad -- can it?

Just enter these lines and then away you go. You could turn into the next
Steve Turner.

CALENDAR (aka. Eight Days A Week)
--------
by Allan Hoiberg

Ever wanted to know what day you were born on? Or what day Jan 1 in the year
2000 will be? Yup! It's a calendar program - but quite a neat one and not too
long to type in. When the program RUNs it'll print out a twelve-month
calendar for any year you want from 1900 to 2000.

DEFINER
aka. UDG Designer
by Chris Thomas
from Sinclair User, August 1986

Ever wanted a really good user-defined graphics (UDG)) designer? You
have? Well now you've got one. This handy little program - from Chris
Thomas of Birmingham - will let you create sprites beyond your wildest
dreams (well maybe not).
To operate it all you have to do is type in 1s and 0s on a grid to
design your UDG. You can also create your character in denary, when
you're a bit more advanced.
Also, this must be the only UDG designer with a tune at the beginning.
Weird. Definitely better than the one you got on your Horizons tape.

Text Modes
----------

As you all know, the Spectrum has a good BASIC, but it does't include a
command to increase the size of the text, like MODE on the BBC. So
here's a listing to do just that -- from David Goodchild of Hertfordshire.

To incorporate this in your own program, just take out the appropriate
lines and put them in yours. You'll see how easy it is just by glancing
at the listing.
